Thank you for registering for the Casting Access Project Orientation! READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY CAP Master Prep Sessions are a learning experience. In addition to the opportunity to meet an established casting professional, they offer a glimpse into the workings of a specific casting office. Remember that all offices are different, reflecting different philosophies and employing different techniques in the way they approach their work. Professional opinions often vary between different casting professionals. The SAG Foundation is not responsible for the opinions of our guest speakers. The viewpoints they share are solely their own and may not reflect the opinions of the SAG Foundation. CAP may not be for everyone. You may find that you need something different in terms of access or information. Should you choose to participate in CAP, please think of it as yet another tool available for your professional education. There are many ways to learn from and to meet industry professionals, and CAP is not meant to function as your only method of career preparation nor is the presence of a casting director meant to impart any promise of employment. However, we hope that it proves helpful and we look forward to your feedback regarding CAP events. Please let us know by e-mail if any further positive outcome results from your experience with the Casting Access Project. Move forward with being part of the Casting Access Project, a way to meet and learn from respected casting professionals available at no cost to eligible SAG-AFTRA participants! About Casting Access Project Master Prep Sessions Frequency-Restricted and Non-Frequency Restricted 'Workshops' CAP Workshops are labeled "Frequency-Restricted" (FR) or "Non-Frequency Restricted" (NFR). "Frequency-Restricted" Workshops may be attended once every 90 days."Non-Frequency-Restricted" Workshops may be attended once a month, pending successful event registration, regardless of any other CAP workshop attendance. You may only be on one FR and one NFR list or WAITLIST at a time.Once you have attended a FR event, the website will not allow you to RSVP for another FR event unless your 90 days have passed. You may check your last CAP date attended by logging onto www.sagfoundation.org, going to your user account and checking your past events. Levels While most CAP sessions are open to all CAP-eligible actors, they are occasionally labeled as Level 1 (Beginner), Level 2 (Intermediate) or Level 3 (Advanced). You alone determine your current Level. No one is restricted from participating in a specific session because of its level; levels are merely to be used as a guideline in the event a casting director has requested seeing actors on a shared footing with regard to training, ability and experience. Please keep this in mind when deciding to register for a Level-specified session. Scheduling While CAP sessions may be offered any day of the week, scheduling is usually on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, starting at 6:30pm or later. CAP sessions are generally 2 to 3 hours long but may last as long as 4 hours to accommodate attention to each participating actor. Location CAP sessions are typically offered at 5757 Wilshire Boulevard, either in our Foundation office or at our Mezzanine-Level Actors Center. Exact location details are always distributed to those participants registered as seated prior to the workshop. Guidelines We want each CAP event to be a positive experience. We emphasize the following in order to maintain a level playing field for all participants. We do not wish to intimidate anyone with a barrage of rules. We merely want to clarify for everyone the same set of guidelines: Bring at least one (1) headshot with a resume stapled or printed on reverse for submission[The headshot you upload for CAP-eligibility is for the SAG Foundation's records, this is what we email to cd's in order for them to choose sides for you before the session; the headshot you bring to a workshop is for the casting director to keep. It is very important that you have at least one headshot/resume available when attending a CAP workshop] Bring your own writing/office materialsCAP cannot supply pencils, pens, paper, staplers, tape, etc. Bring no guestsA seat at a workshop is reserved for you alone Bring no food to the roomBottled water is permitted Look your best. While there is no formalized dress code established for CAP it is advisable not to wear flip-flops or other excessively casual attire that might affect movement or detract from your performance Be prepared to stay for the entire evening (2 - 4 hours)Do not sign up for a workshop if you will need to leave before the event has ended. Do not be lateBe aware of traffic conditions to allow for travel time. CAP events will not accommodate latecomers and failure to arrive on time or failure to attend without cancellation by midnight prior to the event will result in a SIX-MONTH SUSPENSION of CAP attendance eligibility. You must present your paid-up, current SAG-AFTRA ID card for admission to CAP events. If your new card has not yet arrived, bring your SAG-AFTRA dues payment receipt. IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND PLEASE CANCEL YOUR RESERVATIONS BEFORE MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP TO AVOID A SIX-MONTH SUSPENSION OF CAP ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY. Cancel your event reservation online at www.sagfoundation.org,E-mail cap@sagfoundation.org, orCall (323) 549-6022 Signing up for the Casting Access Project Check regularly to sign up! The workshops do fill up quickly! CAP is in exceedingly high demand and accommodation is limited by the number of seats available for each workshop (No more than 20 actors). It is in your best interest to check the website regularly. There is no set time or day of the week during which CAP events are posted on the website. Checking the website regularly will reward you by seeing the workshops as they appear. How to Sign Up CAP Workshop registration is available online (see restrictions below): Register at www.sagfoundation.org and log-onClick on the appropriate prompt ("RSVP" or "Add to Waitlist") pending availability.Once you've RSVP'd for an event, you will receive an automatic message that it has been received. THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF SEATING. If a seat is available for you at a workshop, you will receive an e-mail message or phone call from CAP staff confirming reservation. Please review the information included with this message as it will inform of location, time and other vital details regarding the event.Emails regarding CAP may be addressed to cap@sagfoundation.org and may come from cap@sagfoundation.org or news@sagfoundation.org. Please add these to your address book to avoid emails being sent to a spam or bulk folder. The Waitlist If you have a space on the waitlist there is a good chance you will be seated. Please monitor your space on the waitlist. If you become unable to attend a session for which you have been waitlisted, please cancel your reservation on the waitlist. You are expected to be available if you are on the waitlist. You will receive an email confirming a seat if one becomes available for you. If there is less than 24 hours' notice before a session you will receive a telephone call if a phone number is on your profile. Actors from the waitlist will not be seated at a session unless they have a confirmed seat. Do not come to a session unless you have received a seated confirmation. Please note: If a session you are interested in attending and the waitlist are full, there is still a chance a seat will become available. As attendees cancel and people from the waitlist are moved, space becomes available on the waitlist. |
