Showtime’s hit series, The Borgias premiered season 2 in April and runs through August. The show follows the Borgia family as they rise to power in the Roman Catholic church. Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons) uses bribery, with the help of his son, to secure his position as Pope Alexander VI. But he has gained enemies in the College of Cardinals, who begin to plot against him. He must find alliances. About Lotte Verbeek Lotte Verbeek stars as Giulia Farnese, the ravishing temptress who comes to the Pope seeking redemption and ends up in his bed. Giulia quickly uses her new vaunted position to amass power and influence of her own. She befriends Lucrezia and shares her opinions with the Pope, thereby alienating Vanozza and driving a wedge straight through the heart of the Borgia family. But Giulia proves her worth when she rescues Lucrezia from the hands of her abusive husband. A classically trained ballerina, Lotte is a lover of all arts and culture. She’s an Amsterdam native with an interesting background: she trained with the circus in Europe, performed on the streets in Germany, and was nominated for a European Oscar at age 24. This event will be moderated by Lisa Chambers, Managing Editor, TV Guide Magazine. | |
